Bothams have got golf talent and prove it at The K Club

CRICKET LEGEND Ian Botham was one of 18 golf-loving celebrities who played in the Firstlight Challenge Cup at The K Club alongside TV presenters Ant and Dec and popstar Ronan Keating. And just like his dad, Liam Botham proved he has golf talent, too, playing off a handicap of zero.

The pair jetted to Ireland’s number one golf club and spa resort for the 27-hole match to officially launch shared ownership apartments and family homes at Firstlight The K Club.
The friendly tournament was played on the legendary Arnold Palmer course made famous by the Ryder Cup in 2006. Actors James Nesbitt and Dougray Scott, and snooker legend Dennis Taylor teamed up with the Botham family, Ronan Keating and Ant and Dec. The team of actors, singers and presenters battled it out against England’s top football legends including Alan Shearer, David Seaman, Les Ferdinand and Dean Ashton.
But despite a range of handicaps in both celebrity teams who played in the Firstlight Challenge Cup – it was a draw! Fans were invited to pick the winning team from the live scoreboard run by VPAR on May 12, but didn’t seem to mind that no one won, leaving messages for their idols like Ronan Keating, including: “Good luck. You give me a reason to get up each day.”
But celebs in their turn were also full of praise for residences at Firstlight The K Club, which are set in 550 acres of The K Club’s stunning country estate in Kildare.
Former England footballer David Platt said: “Fractional ownership at the K Club is a no-brainer as a lifestyle investment. It does not make sense to buy a whole property when you use it for just a few weeks of the year.”

Dec Donnelly said: “Having watched the Ryder Cup being played here in 2006 and being here now is amazing. The Firstlight K Club properties are very impressive, nicely done and very handy for the golf course. The resort is really special.”
Alan Shearer said: “I love this place, the two courses are fantastic. I have been a few times with family now and they enjoy it too. When I walked into the Firstlight house I just said wow!”
